Homework Package Distributed on Friday

I was asked about distributing the homework package on Friday to provide everyone with more time to work on the homework.  I am happy to give this a try.  Please let me know if having the homework on Friday is helpful and I will continue to give it out on Friday with it being returned the following Friday.  However, please do not spend too much time on the weekend doing homework as I would love the students to have a break.

Please let me know what you think of having the homework given out on Friday.

Trees For Life - Global News

The Trees for Life Story will air on Global news on Wednesday November 3, 2010 during the 6pm news cast.

Halloween Party

On Friday afternoon we will be participating in the school Halloween parade and after that we will be having a classroom party.  Please have your child bring their costume to school and they can change into it after lunch.

If your child would like to bring a snack for the party or to share with the class please make sure it is nut free.

Grade 3 Math Test

The Grade 3's will be having a math test on Thursday October 28th.  We will be doing a review in class on Wednesday.  Included in this weeks homework package was a review package please have your child do as little or as much as you feel is necessary.

Trees For Life - Media Form

Our class has been chosen to participate in the Trees for Life project.  Trees for Life is a project that provides information and knowledge about the role that trees play in maintaining the ecological balance of our planet.  This project is being done as part of our science unit Growth and Changes in Plants.

 

As a part of this project Global TV will be coming into school on Tuesday to film a segment for Susan Hay's "Making a Difference."   Each student was given a media release form on Friday could you please return them to school by Tuesday.

School Photos

School photo proofs went home today.  Please return proofs/orders to the school by Thursday.

Magazine Sale

The school magazine sale will be over on October 19th.  Please make sure that all of your orders are in by Tuesday October 19th.

Mapping Assignment

Rough draft of the neighbourhood mapping assignment is due on Thursday.
Please review the information that was sent home on Tuesday. 
The neighbourhood can be made up.  Please have your child include roads and symbols to represent the different places that they would like to have in their neighbourhood.
This is just a rough drawing to help guide them when they start to build their neighbourhood on Thursday.

EQAO Question - Grade 3's

An EQAO question from a previous years test will go home on Friday.  I will be sending a question home every Friday and I would like it to be returned to school on Monday.  Please have your child spend approximately 15 minutes working on the question. 

I will review the answer with the students and will then send the answer exemplary home for you to look at.

Boxes

We need boxes for an upcoming assignment.  If you have any empty cereal, kleenex, shoe or cracker boxes could you please have your child bring them in.

Weekly Homework

I am going to begin to send a weekly homework package out Monday that is to be returned to school on Friday.  If you find that you are having a busy week at any time during the year and would like to keep the homework package over the weekend please send me a note to let me know.

Please continue to check agendas on a nightly basis as I will send home suggestions as to when to do a particular part of the homework package as well additional notes will also be written in the agendas.
